ABOUT IPW
Joshua Lowery and Mikel Sweeten, formerly writers for companies such as GCW, LWA, and GWF, opened their own company in the summer of 2004 called Ultimate Championship Wrestling and it was an instant cult hit. Behind the scenes, though, the company was often on a rocky foundation, one of the reasons being the owners' short attention spans and occassional tendency to butt heads creatively. After closing, reopening under a new banner, and changing back to UCW, in the spring of 2005, Lowery and Sweeten amicably parted ways. Lowery went on to open a new company with former UCW Champion, Bear Lee Alive, called Impact Pro Wrestling. Bear and Lowery soon formed a working relationship with Sweeten and UCW, an agreement that proved benificial to both parties in the short term, but both companies would be closed by August of that year. The three men would reemerge in the spring of 2006 under the IPW banner sporting two brands, one run by Sweeten (who had been trying to revive UCW in recent months, including invading a rival company), the other by Lowery, while Bear took on a role of overseer of both brands. This time the company would get a good, long run, making it all the way to November of 2006 before closing up shop. Since then, not much has been heard from the trio. In March of 2008, Joshua Lowery bought Bear out to become full owner of IPW and tried one more time to revive it, with no luck. Frustrated, he then sold the company to Texas real estate tycoon, Jared Houston, whose son (coincidentally also named Josh) is a professional wrestler. Houston has yet to do anything with the company, but it is rumored that he will in the coming months or maybe even weeks.
IPW & THE REAL WORLD
At this point in time, IPW is roughly the size of ROH and is a lot like ROH in style. We have a local TV deal, running bi-weekly shows, and run bi-monthly pay-per-views. Most shows hail from the JCM Arena in Dallas, Texas. We only travel occasionally for large shows. We are not in competition with any real life companies, and we ask you to please limit your mentions of real life companies and wrestlers in your roleplays.
THE PURE TITLE
The IPW Pure Championship is contested under a set of unique pure wrestling rules. They are:
1. Matches will consist of three five minute rounds.
2. Blatant disobediance of the rules will not be tolerated.
3. The title can change hands on a disqualification.
4. The first way to win is by making your opponent submit.
5. The second way to win is to beat your opponent until he stays down for a ten count.
6. There are no pinfalls.
